Always a Vice President never a President?

I recently applied for a job as a President of a community college. I didn't get the job. I did get a first round interview, but the minute the 20 minute interview started I knew I wasn't really being considered. The body language in the room was off. Everyone was tired and not looking at me. I finished the interview and told my husband right away - I didn't get it.

I was right.

And its caused me to think perhaps I'll always be a Vice President. Never a President.
